Urgent Question on the Culture Secretary and the Ministerial Code

Prime Minister, David Cameron, responded to an urgent question asked by Leader of the Opposition, Edward Miliband, in the House of Commons on 30 April on the Culture Secretary and the Independent Adviser on Ministerial Interests.
Independent Advisor on Ministerial Interests
The Prime Minister told MPs he would not refer the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Jeremy Hunt, to the Independent Advisor on Ministerial Interests over his dealings with News Corporation.
The Prime Minister explained that he did not want to duplicate or pre-empt the Leveson Inquiry into press ethics. The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport is expected to appear before the Leveson Inquiry in mid-May.

Urgent questions
Urgent questions are asked at the end of Question Time. If something has happened, normally a matter of public importance, which an MP believes requires an immediate answer from a government minister, they may apply to the Speaker to ask an urgent question.
If the Speaker agrees, the question will be asked at the end of Question Time.
