Stephen Doughty of the Labour Party has become Member of Parliament for Cardiff South and Penarth after winning the by-election held in that constituency on 15 November 2012.

Cardiff South and Penarth by-election

The by-election in Cardiff South and Penarth was called after the former MP, Alun Michael, was appointed to the office of Steward and Bailiff of the Three Hundreds of Chiltern - the means by which an MP disqualifies themselves in order to resign - so that he could stand as a candidate in the election of police and crime commissioners, also held on 15 November 2012.
