Financial Services Bill
The Financial Services Bill returns to the chamber on 8 October for day six of committee stage, line by line scrutiny of the bill.

Defamation Bill
The bill proposes to reform the law of defamation to ensure a fair balance is struck between the right to freedom of expression and the protection of reputation. It will have its second reading, the first opportunity for members to discuss the main purposes and principles of the bill, in the House of Lords on 9 October.

Crime and Courts Bill
The bill resumes with committee stage day seven, continued line by line scrutiny of the bill, focusing on community sentencing.

Lords committee work
The House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee will hear from Karen Henderson, Senior Lecturer in Politics at the University of Leicester, on 9 October as they continue their inquiry into the economic implications for the UK of Scottish independence.
The Select Committee on Adoption Legislation will take evidence from Professor Eileen Munro CBE from the Department of Social Policy at the London School of Economics on 9 October.
EU Sub-Committee A – Economic and Financial Affairs is due to hear from several leading academics on 9 October as it continues its inquiry into reform of the EU banking sector.
