Statement on West Coast Main Line

Secretary of State for Transport, Patrick McLoughlin, made a statement in the House of Commons on Monday 29 October on the publication of the interim report into the Intercity West Coast rail franchise.

West Coast Mail Line

On 3 October 2012 the Transport Secretary cancelled the competition to run the inter-city west coast rail franchise. Two independent inquiries were established and the first of these, The Laidlaw Inquiry, has reported its interim findings. Futher information can be found on the Department for Transport website.

Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, Maria Eagle, responded to the statement on behalf of the Opposition.
