MPs debate Lords amendments to Bills

Royal Assent and Prorogation: 25 April 2013

The Bills below received Royal Assent on 25 April 2013 and now become Acts of Parliament (the proposals of the Bill now become law).

Parliament has prorogued until Wednesday 8 May 2013 when the 2013/14 Parliamentary Session will open with Queen's Speech.

Prorogation marks the end of a parliamentary session. It is the formal name given to the period between the end of a session of Parliament and the State Opening of Parliament that begins the next session.

Lords amendments considered by the Commons on 25 April

On Thursday 25 April, the Growth and Infrastructure Bill returned to the Commons for consideration of Lords' amendments.

Growth and Infrastructure Bill

Amendments to the Bill were previously considered in the Commons on 23 April and in the Lords on 24 April.

On Wednesday 24 April, MPs debated Lords amendments to the Public Service Pensions Bill and to the Defamation Bill. 

Public Service Pensions Bill

The Public Service Pensions Bill 2012-13 was introduced to Parliament on 13 September 2012. The Bill had its third reading in the House of Lords on 26 February 2013.

Amendments to the Growth and Infrastructure Bill the Enterprise and the Regulatory Reform Bill were considered in the House of Commons on Tuesday 23 April 2013.

The Growth and Infrastructure Bill 2012-13 was introduced to Parliament on 18 October 2013. The Bill had its third reading in the House of Lords on 26 March 2013.

Lords Amendments

When a Bill has passed through third reading in both Houses it is returned to the first House (where it started) for the second House's amendments (proposals for change) to be considered.

Both Houses must agree on the exact wording of the Bill. There is no set time period between the third reading of a Bill and consideration of any Commons or Lords amendments.
