One of the ways the House of Lords scrutinises and challenges the work of the government is through written questions.

Every week during the summer recess, Lords Hansard publishes written answers online to questions submitted by members of the Lords.

Subjects of written answers and statements published on Monday 30 September include:

  • Caste discrimination
  • Energy: Prices
  • Immigration
  • Railways: HS2
  • Roads: Infrastructure

Throughout the summer recess members of the House of Lords continued to submit questions for written answer, which were then sent to the government on two 'tabling days' (2 and 30 September).
