Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II visits Westminster

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II visited the Palace of Westminster on 6 December to view the Diamond Jubilee Window now installed in the great window over the North Door of Westminster Hall.
The Diamond Jubilee Window, bearing The Queen's coat of arms, was received by Her Majesty as a gift from members of both Houses of Parliament on the occasion of Addresses in Westminster Hall to mark Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee, in March 2012.
The Queen, accompanied by Mr Speaker and the Lord Speaker, met the artists and craftsmen who worked on the window and its installation, together with a some of the members and officials from both Houses who have been closely involved with the project.
About the Diamond Jubilee window
The idea for the gift came from Michael Ellis MP (Northampton North) who established and chaired the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, which unanimously supported the proposal. Members from both Houses and across political parties have funded the creation and installation of the window through personal contributions.
The window was designed and made by British artist John Reyntiens, working with a team of experienced draftsmen, painters and technicians in his studio.
