2013 Budget debate on growth

Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, Ed Balls, opened the continuing debate on the Budget, on the subject of growth, in the House of Commons on Thursday 21 March 2013

The Secretary of State for Business Innovation and Skills, Vince Cable, responded on behalf of the Government.

Budget debates

The debates following the Budget statement continued over three days on Thursday 21, Friday 22 and Monday 25 March. Each day focused on a given topic. At the end of the debate on Monday 25 March MPs were asked to approve a series of Ways and Means Resolutions

A Finance Bill is required to give permanent legal effect to the Resolutions. The Finance Bill (No. 2) 2012-13 was presented on Monday 25 March, and is expected to be published on Thursday 28 March.
