The House of Lords returns from recess on Monday 3 June. Members of the House of Lords have been busy debating public bills and investigating government activity through committee work and questions

Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill

The bill allows the marriage of same sex couples in England and Wales, and its second reading is due to take place in the Lords on 3 June. An amendment to the motion that the bill should be read a second time has been proposed. If this amendment is successful it will decline the bill a second reading in the Lords, stopping the progress of the bill.

Care Bill

The Care Bill will reform the law around care and support for adults. It had its second reading on Tuesday 21 May and is back in the chamber to begin committee stage on 4 June.

Intellectual Property Bill

The bill makes changes to the law around intellectual property rights, including design, patents, freedom of information and recognition of foreign copyright. It had its second reading on Wednesday 22 May.

Offender Rehabilitation Bill

The bill looks at arrangements around rehabilitation of offenders. It had its second reading on Monday 20 May and will enter committee stage on 5 June.

Local Audit and Accountability Bill

The bill looks at the way local authorities and certain other public authorities are audited. It had its second reading on Wednesday 22 May.
