European Union (Referendum) Bill - Report stage (Day 3)

MPs debated the remaining stages of the European Union (Referendum) Bill in the House of Commons on Friday 29 November 2013.

The Bill completed its report stage and the third reading without division. The Bill now moves to the House of Lords for consideration.

This Bill, sponsored by James Wharton, seeks to make provision for the holding of a referendum in the United Kingdom on the United Kingdom’s membership of the European Union.

The debate on the report stage of the Bill began on Friday 8 November 2013 and was adjourned. Report stages (day 2) took place on Friday 22 November 2013 and was adjourned. It resumed and was completed on Friday 29 November 2013.

This Bill, sponsored by Mr Peter Bone, seeks to make provision for restrictions on the residence in the UK of Bulgarian and Romanian nationals to continue.

Alan Turing (Statutory Pardon) Bill [HL]: Second reading

This Bill, sponsored by Mr John Leech, seeks to give a statutory pardon to Alan Mathison Turing for offences under Section 11 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act 1885 of which he was convicted on 31 March 1952.

The second reading of this Bill has been rescheduled for Friday 28 February 2014.

Communications (Unsolicited Telephone Calls and Texts) Bill: Second reading

This Bill, sponsored by Mike Crockart, seeks to reduce the incidence of unsolicited telephone calls and texts received by consumers; and for connected purposes.

Extension of Franchise (House of Lords) Bill [HL]: Second reading

This Bill, sponsored by Stephen Pound, seeks to make provision for a Member of the House of Lords to vote at elections to the House of Commons.

Margaret Thatcher Day Bill: Second reading

This Bill, sponsored by Mr Peter Bone, seeks to make provision that the annual Bank Holiday Monday in late August be known as Margaret Thatcher Day. 

The second reading of this Bill has been rescheduled for Friday 3 January 2014.

EU Membership (Audit of Costs and Benefits) Bill - Second reading

This Bill, sponsored by Mr Christopher Chope, seeks to require an independent audit of the benefits and costs of UK membership of the European Union.

The second reading of this Bill has been rescheduled for Friday 17 January 2014.

Asylum (Time Limit) Bill: Second reading

This Bill, sponsored by Mr Christopher Chope, seeks to require that asylum claims in the United Kingdom be lodged within three months of the claimant’s arrival in the United Kingdom; and that persons who have already entered the United Kingdom and wish to make an asylum claim must do so within three months of the passing of this Act.

The second reading of this Bill has been rescheduled for Friday 17 January 2014.

Foreign Nationals (Access to Public Services) Bill: Second reading

This Bill, sponsored by Mr Christopher Chope, seeks to restrict access by foreign nationals to United Kingdom public services for which no charge is made.

The second reading of this Bill has been rescheduled for Friday 17 January 2014.

House of Lords (Maximum Membership) Bill: Second reading

This Bill, sponsored by Mr Christopher Chope, seeks to provide for a maximum limit on the number of Peers entitled to vote in the House of Lords; and to provide for a moratorium on new appointments.

The second reading of this Bill has been rescheduled for Friday 17 January 2014.
