Autumn 2013 saw the introduction of new life peers.

Following short introduction ceremonies they are able to contribute and vote in the House of Lords.

Monday 11 November

Baroness Goldie is a Conservative member of the Scottish Parliament and former Leader of the Scottish Conservatives.

Thursday 7 November

Lord Bamford is chairman and director of JCB.

Wednesday 6 November

Lord Allen of Kensignton is non-executive director of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and chair of Global Radio Group.

Tuesday 5 November

Baroness Williams of Trafford is a former councillor and Leader of Trafford Council. Baroness Jones of Moulsecoomb is a member of the London Assembly, former chair of the Green party of England and Wales and former Deputy Mayor of London.

Monday 4 November

Baroness Kennedy of Cradley is former Deputy General Secretary of the Labour party.

Thursday 31 October

Lord Balfe is a former MEP and Conservative Party Envoy to the Trade Unions and Cooperative movement. Lord Palumbo of Southwark is co-founder and chairman of Ministry of Sound Group, the international music and entertainment business.

Wednesday 30 October

Lord Holmes of Richmond is a former Paralympic swimmer and was director of Paralympic Integration at London 2012. He is a non-executive director of the Equality and Human Rights Commission and a former non-executive director of the Disability Rights Commission.

Tuesday 29 October

Baroness Neville-Rolfe is a former senior civil servant, including Number 10 Policy Unit and a former leading executive at Tesco Plc. Lord Haughey is a prominent Scottish businessman and CEO of City Refrigeration Holdings.

Monday 28 October

Lord Sherbourne of Didsbury has had a longstanding political career in Westminster and public affairs, including former Political Secretary to the then Prime Minister (Margaret Thatcher), and former Chief of Staff to the then Leader of the Opposition (Michael Howard). Lord Paddick is a former Deputy Assistant Commissioner in the Metropolitan Police Service.

Thursday 24 October

Lord Finkelstein is associate editor of The Times and former head of policy for the Conservative party. Baroness Humphreys is president of the Welsh Liberal Democrats and a former member of the National Assembly for Wales.

Tuesday 22 October

Lord Purvis of Tweed is a former member of the Scottish Parliament for Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale. Baroness Hodgson of Abinger is a campaigner on women’s issues, a senior member of the Conservative voluntary Party and former chair of the Conservative Women’s Organisation.

Monday 21 October

Lord Verjeee is an entrepreneur and philanthropist. Baroness Suttie is former press secretary to the President of the European Parliament, former deputy chief of staff to Nick Clegg and was election manager for the Liberal Democrats in the 2010 general election.

Thursday 17 October

Lord Carrington is a former Conservative MP. Lord Leigh is a senior corporate finance professional, Conservative Party Treasurer and former chair and current president of Westminster Synagogue.

Wednesday 16 October

Lord Whitby is a Conservative councillor in Birmingham and former leader of Birmingham City Council.

Tuesday 15 October

Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon is a campaigner for justice, race equality and better policing. Baroness Bakewell of Hardington Mandeville is former leader of Somerset County Council.

Monday 14 October

Lord Bourne of Aberyswyth is a former leader of the Conservative Group in the National Assembly for Wales.

Thursday 10 October

Baroness Manzoor is a former Legal Services Ombudsman and former deputy chair of the Commission for Racial Equality. Lord Wrigglesworth is Liberal Democrat Treasurer and a former MP.

Wednesday 9 October

Lord Mendelsohn is a business advisor and co-founder of LLM Communications.

Tuesday 8 October

Lord Horam is a former MP and serves as a Conservative representative on the Electoral Commission. Baroness Grender was formerly director of communications at Shelter and director of communications for the Liberal Democrats.
