MPs debated the North Wales economy and the UK automotive industry on Tuesday 1 April 2014 in the House of Commons.
The debates were among five Westminster Hall debates that gave MPs an opportunity to raise local or national issues and receive a response from a government minister.

9.30-11am – North Wales Economy
Mr David Hanson, Labour MP for Delyn, moved a debate on the North Wales economy. The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Wales, Stephen Crabb, responded on behalf of the Government.

11-11.30am – Grassroots Football
Mr David Crausby, Labour MP for Bolton North East, moved a debate on Government support for grassroots football. The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Mrs Helen Grant, responded on behalf of the Government.

2.30-4pm – UK Automotive Industry
Gavin Williamson, Conservative MP for South Staffordshire, moved a debate on the UK automotive industry. The Minister of State, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, Michael Fallon, responded on behalf of the Government.

Debate cancelled - flood resilience in Worcester
The debate previously scheduled for 4-4.30pm on improving flood resilience in Worcester, which was to be moved by Mr Robin Walker, Conservative MP for Worcester, was cancelled. The sitting was temporarily suspended until 4.30pm.
4.30-5pm - Europe for Citizens programme 2014-20
The debate scheduled for 4.30-5pm on the Europe for Citizens programme 2014-20, which was to be moved by Michael Connarty, Labour MP for Linlithgow and East Falkirk, was not held. The sitting was adjourned at 4.31pm.
Westminster Hall debates
On Tuesdays and Wednesdays there are two one and a half hour debates and three half hour debates. The longer debates are intended for broader subjects where a number of MPs will want to speak. The shorter debates may focus on an issue that an MP may want to raise about their constituency.
Two ballots are held on the Wednesday of the previous week for each type of debate; MPs may enter into both ballots but can only be successful in one.
Each government department responds to the debates every other week according to a rota.
The Chair is taken by a member of the Panel of Chairs, with the same duties and powers conferred on Deputy Speakers.
