Private Members’ Bills Debated

The following Bills were debated on Friday 5 December 2014:

International Development (Official Development Assistance Target) Bill: Report Stage and Third Reading

This Bill, sponsored by Michael Moore, seeks to put into legislation the target of spending at least 0.7% of national income on aid and create a new body to carry out independent evaluation of aid spending.

The Bill passed all of its stages in the House of Commons; it will now move to the House of Lords for consideration.

Specialist Printing Equipment and Materials (Offences) Bill: Report Stage and Third Reading

This Bill, sponsored by Mr David Amess, seeks to make provision for an offence in respect of specialist printing equipment and related materials; and for connected purposes.

The Report Stage of the Bill was passed with no Amendments on consideration.

The Bill passed all of its stages in the House of Commons; it will now move to the House of Lords for consideration.

Convicted Prisoners Voting Bill: Second Reading

This Bill, sponsored by Mr Christopher Chope, seeks to make provision for rules relating to the exclusion of convicted prisoners from participation in Parliamentary and Local Elections.

This Bill started its second reading debate but the debate was adjourned. Debate is expected to resume on the Bill on Friday 9 January 2015.

Household Safety (Carbon Monoxide Detectors) Bill: Adjourned debate on second reading [12 September]

This Bill, sponsored by Andrew Bingham, to introduce a requirement that a functioning carbon monoxide detector must be installed in all newly built and all rented residential properties; and for connected purposes.

Debate on this Bill has been rescheduled to Friday 23 January 2015.

Benefit Entitlement (Restriction) Bill: Second Reading

This Bill, sponsored by Mr Christopher Chope, seeks to make provision to restrict the entitlement of non-UK Citizens from the European Union and the European Economic Area to taxpayer-funded benefits.

Road Traffic Regulation (Temporary Closure for Filming) Bill: Adjourned debate on Second Reading [7 November]

This Bill, sponsored by Iain Stewart, seeks to make provision for the restriction or regulation of traffic on roads in connection with filming; and for connected purposes.

Illegal Immigrants (Criminal Sanctions) Bill: Adjourned debate on Second Reading [24 October]

Wild Animals in Circuses Bill: Second Reading

The Bill, sponsored by Jim Fitzpatrick, seeks to prohibit the use of wild animals in circuses; and for connected purposes.

Civil Partnership Act 2004 (Amendment) Bill: Second Reading

This Bill, sponsored by Tim Loughton, seeks to amend the Civil Partnership Act 2004 to provide that opposite sex couples may enter into a civil partnership; and for connected purposes.

Off-patent Drugs Bill: Second Reading

This Bill, sponsored by Johnathan Evans, to require the Secretary of State to take steps to secure licences for off-patent drugs in new indications; to require the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence to conduct technology appraisals for off-patent drugs in new indications; and for connected purposes.

Counsellors and Psychotherapists (Regulation) Bill: Second Reading

The Bill, sponsored by Geraint Davies, seeks to provide that the Health and Care Professionals Council be the regulatory body for counsellors and psychotherapists; to prohibit gay to straight conversion therapy; to make consequential provision for the protection of children and adults; and for connected purposes.

These Bills were not moved for debate on 8 December 2014.
