Introduction of Lord Richards of Herstmonceux

A new crossbench life peer, General Sir David Richards, will be introduced into the House of Lords on Tuesday 25 February.

Following a short introduction ceremony Lord Richards of Herstmonceux will be able to contribute and vote in the House.

General Sir David Richards is a former Chief of the Defence Staff (2010-13). His previous appointments include:

  • Chief of the General Staff (2009-10)
  • Commander in Chief Land Forces (2008-09)
  • Commander of the International Stabilisation and Assistance Force, Afghanistan (2006-07).

He has served in countries all over the world including Germany, Sierra Leone, East Timor, and completed four tours in Northern Ireland.
