Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Theresa Villiers, made a statement in the House of Commons on Wednesday 8 January 2014 on the cross-party Haass Talks in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary, Ivan Lewis, responded to the statement on behalf of the Opposition.

Haass Talks
The Haass Talks involved the five main political parties in Northern Ireland meeting to discuss issues surrounding parades, flags and dealing with the past.
US diplomat Dr Richard Haass chaired the talks which were concluded towards the end of 2013, without agreement. The final draft of proposals were published on the Northern Ireland Executive website.
