Lords debates promoting British values

Members of the Lords, including a trustee of the BBC Trust, a former head of the Diplomatic Service, a patron of the Coventry Law Centre and a trustee of the Lowry Trust, discussed the role of the BBC World Service and the British Council in promoting British values and interests worldwide, on 10 July.
This was a general debate, which usually take place on a Thursday in the Lords chamber. During debates, Lords are able to put their experience to good use, checking and challenging the government.
The debate was requested by Lord Alton of Liverpool (Crossbench). Other speakers included:
