Lord Speaker meets Chinese Premier

The Lord Speaker, Baroness D'Souza, met the Chinese Premier, Li Keqiang, on Wednesday 18 June.
The visit came during the Chinese Premier's three-day trip to the UK. Premier Li was accompanied by Wang Yi, the Chinese Minister for Foreign Affairs and Liu Xiaoming, China’s Ambassador to the UK.

- On Monday 16 June, the Lord Speaker met with Abu Zahar Ujang, President of the Malaysian Senate to discuss parliamentary matters.
- On the same day, Baroness D'Souza attended the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s 2014 Westminster Seminar. She spoke alongside The Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow MP, about the role of the Speaker and the differences between the two Houses. There was a joint discussion on whether the Speaker should have a role outside Parliament, followed by a Q&A session.
- On Wednesday 18 June, she met with members of the Alzheimer's Society campaign team to talk about their Dementia Friends initiative.
