Lords debates the Queen's Speech

The House of Lords continues to discuss the government’s plans for the year ahead, as set out in the Queen’s Speech, from 11am on Thursday 5 June.

Different subject areas are debated each day following State Opening. The debate is scheduled to last for four days after the day of the ceremony.

Today's debate is set to cover the economy, infrastructure, transport, energy and local government.

Wednesday 4 June (after the State Opening): Formal thank you in reply to the Queen's Speech

House of Lords subjects for debate next week

  • Monday 9 June - home affairs, law and justice, health and education
  • Tuesday 10 June - business, employment, pensions, welfare, agriculture and the environment
  • Wednesday 11 June - constitutional and devolved affairs, foreign and Commonwealth affairs, defence, international development and culture.

Business for Thursday 12 June is yet to be announced.
