MPs debated passport applications and energy prices in the House of Commons on Wednesday 18 June 2014.
The debates were on subjects chosen by the Opposition.
Passport applications
The first Opposition motion on passport applications was moved by the Shadow Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper. The Home Secretary, Theresa May, responded on behalf of the Government.

Energy prices
The second Opposition motion on energy prices was moved by the Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Caroline Flint. The Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Edward Davey, responded on behalf of the Government.
The motion was negatived on division. (Division 11, Ayes 228 votes, Noes 283 votes)

About Opposition day debates
Opposition days are days allocated in the House of Commons in each session for the discussion of subjects chosen by the Opposition.
Seventeen days are at the disposal of the Leader of the Opposition, the leader of the largest opposition party, to decide which matters are debated. Three days are usually divided between the other opposition parties.
The Opposition generally use them to raise questions of policy and administration. Frequently, two separate subjects are debated on an opposition day.
