Statement on Ukraine: 13 May 2014

Foreign Secretary, William Hague, made a statement in the House of Commons on Tuesday 13 May 2014 on recent events in Ukraine. Shadow Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Minister, John Spellar, responded to the statement on behalf of the Opposition.

The statement included:

  • an update on the situation on the ground
  • the diplomatic work going on to reduce tensions
  • the decisions made at the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on 12 May, and
  • the approach the UK Government will continue to pursue over the coming weeks.
