Lords debates religion
28 November 2014
Members of the Lords, including two bishops, the honorary president of the Muslim Women’s Network, a council member of the Royal Institute of Philosophy and the vice-president of the National Churches Trust, debated the role of religion and belief in British public life, on Thursday 27 November.
Peers talked about the range of beliefs in Britain, and how different factors, including immigration and definitions of beliefs, have had an effect on the ‘religious landscape’ of the UK. Members asked how the government could promote and encourage equal respect and concern across faiths and beliefs, they also looked at ways people with different beliefs could help each other understand their views.
