Members of the Lords, including a former minister of state for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the president of the Middle East Committee of the Inter-parliamentary Union, debated the current situation in the Middle East and North Africa, on Thursday 30 October.

The wide-ranging debate covered a number of areas, including the situations in Iraq and Syria, and the Middle East peace process. Peers asked how the UK could strengthen its relationships with countries in the region, particularly Iran, and highlighted progress made in countries such as Algeria and Tunisia.
