President of Singapore visits UK Parliament

The President of Singapore, Tony Tan Keng Yam, gave an address to members of both Houses of Parliament on Tuesday 21 October in the Robing Room of the House of Lords.

It was the first time a head of state of Singapore has addressed the UK Parliament. The state visit came ahead of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the independence of the Republic of Singapore, on 9 August 2015.

Commons Speaker, John Bercow MP, gave a welcome address introducing President Tony Tan Keng Yam's speech.

The Lord Speaker, Baroness D’Souza, thanked President Tony Tan Keng Yam following his address.
