The House of Commons will be recalled from the conference recess on Friday 26 September 2014 to debate a substantive motion on Iraq: Coalition against ISIL.

The House will sit from 10.30am.

The Speaker has agreed to the Prime Minister’s request to recall Parliament this Friday.

Tours of Parliament on Friday 26 September cancelled

All tours of Parliament on Friday 26 September have been cancelled. Members of the public who have bought tickets for tours on that day will be contacted by Ticketmaster.

If special arrangements were made for the tour – such as wheelchair access – you should contact Visitor Services.

Recall of the House of Commons

If there is an important development during a recess period, the House of Commons and House of Lords may be recalled.

Standing Order 13 gives the Speaker the authority to recall the House of Commons when it stands adjourned, if he is satisfied it is within the public interest.

The House of Commons was last recalled during recess on Thursday 29 August 2013 to discuss Syria and the use of chemical weapons.

Watching the recall debate from the public gallery

UK residents and overseas visitors can watch proceedings in the House of Commons by visiting the public gallery.

The queue for admittance to the public gallery will be open from 9.30am on Friday 26 September 2014.
