Members of the Lords debated the government's proposals for military action in Syria on Wednesday 2 December.

Members discussed a number of topics, including whether taking action would increase the likelihood of an attack on Britain, whether the UK could increase the number of air strikes in Iraq instead of in Syria, and whether ground forces were also needed.

Members of the Lords also debated the government’s overall strategy, including non-military elements, asking how it would support the diplomatic, humanitarian and political situation in Syria.
