Members of the Lords, including a former Justice of the Supreme Court and a former governor of the London School of Economics, debated the implications of constitutional changes proposed in the Queen’s Speech, on Thursday 25 June.

Members discussed the constitutional proposals outlined in the Queen’s Speech. Key areas that were debated included the UK’s relationship with the European Union, devolution of power in the UK, the Human Rights Act 1998 and electoral reform.

Peers also discussed the proposed introduction of a Bill of Rights, and a number of members asked how this would be drafted, and what it would be based on.
