Members of the Lords, including leading economists and business people, debated UK economy in the light of the Budget Statement, on Wednesday 25 March.

Members outlined the current state of the economy, highlighting the Office for Budget Responsibility’s growth estimates for 2015 and 2016. They warned, however, about the risks to growth, including the situation in Ukraine and Russia, potential weaknesses in emerging markets, and economic policy in Europe and the USA.

Peers also discussed subjects including tax, pay and living standards, and the impact of the Budget on pensions and savings.
