Lord Speaker to give talk on Women and Democracy in Birmingham

As part of her programme of Outreach events around the UK the Lord Speaker, Baroness D’Souza, will visit Birmingham to give a free public talk on Friday 5 June focusing on the important role women play in shaping our democracy and engaging with Parliament.
There will also be a brief introduction to how Parliament works and how to get involved from Clare Mullin, Regional Outreach Officer for the Midlands. Information on the range of free training, talks and courses organised by the Outreach Service all over the UK will be provided.
This event will also give attendees the chance to meet others and network with organisations, charities and groups from the Midlands and beyond who are campaigning on women’s issues and a range of democratic causes.

Women in Parliament programme
This one-off special event is being held as part of the Lord Speaker's national Outreach activities and is part of the Outreach Service's ongoing Women in Parliament programme.
Its aim is to encourage more women to think about being actively involved in UK politics. As well as one off special events such as this, the Outreach Service offers targeted resources, ongoing workshops and a mentoring programme as well as free training to women’s groups on effective campaigning at Parliament.
