Members of the Lords, including education and business leaders, debated the process for monitoring the availability and quality of apprenticeships, on Thursday 15 October.

The debate will also cover the mechanisms for ensuring an appropriate spread of apprenticeships across the labour market.

This was a general debate. They usually take place on a Thursday in the Lords chamber. During debates, members are able to put their experience to good use, discussing current issues and drawing the government's attention to concerns.

The debate was proposed by Baroness Prosser (Labour), former Deputy General Secretary of the Transport and General Workers Union. Speakers  included:

Earl Courtown (Conservative), responded on behalf of the government.
