Ian Ailles appointed Director General of the House of Commons

Ian Ailles has been appointed as Director General of the House of Commons, and will take up post on 27 October 2015.
A qualified accountant, Ian has worked in complex, customer facing organisations in both the public and private sector. Most recently, he has performed CEO, MD, COO and CFO roles in the travel and leisure industry at Thomas Cook and Wyndham. He has also held executive, non-executive and consultancy roles for charities, start-up ventures and large organisations in sectors including NHS, education, care homes, IT and banking.
As Director General, Ian will be responsible for the delivery of effective and efficient services to MPs and the public. Working with the Clerk of the House he will develop and deliver the future strategy of the House of Commons Service, and lead change across the 1,700 strong staff.

Ian Ailles, newly appointed Director General of the House of Commons, said:
