Lords Private Members' bills

The House of Lords will debate four private members' bills on Friday 22 April, covering alcohol limits for drivers, council tax valuations, the Criminal Case Review Commission and the House of Common's Members' Fund.

A private member's bill is a type of public bill (that affects the public). Private members' bills must go through the same set of procedures as other public bills. Two of these private members' bills were first introduced in the House of Commons.

Criminal Cases Review Commission (Information) Bill  (Report stage):

The Bill will extend the Criminal Cases Review Commission’s powers to obtain information.

Road Traffic Act 1988 (Alcohol Limits) (Amendment) Bill [HL] (Report):

This bill will amend the Road Traffic Act 1988 to lower the prescribed limit of alcohol in relation to driving or being in charge of a vehicle.

House of Commons (Members' Fund) (No.2) Bill  (2nd reading):

A bill to consolidate and amend provisions about the House of Commons Members’ Fund.

Council Tax Valuation Bands Bill [HL] 2015-16 (Committee):

A bill to make provision for the introduction of a new set of council tax valuation bands to apply to all dwellings bought or sold after 1 April 2000.
