Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Ratification of Convention) Bill: Second Reading
This Bill, sponsored by Dr Eilidh Whiteford MP, seeks to require the United Kingdom to ratify the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (the Istanbul Convention); and for connected purposes.

The Bill passed its Second Reading by 135 to 2 following a divison and now progresses to Committee Stage.
Double Taxation Treaties (Developing Countries) Bill: Second Reading
This Bill, sponsored by Roger Mullin MP, seeks to place a duty on the Chancellor of the Exchequer to align the outcomes of double taxation treaties with developing countries with the goal of the United Kingdom’s overseas development aid programme for reducing poverty and to report to Parliament thereon; and for connected purposes.

Rescheduled Private Members' Bills

Crown Tenancies Bill: Second Reading
This Bill, sponsored by Wendy Morton MP, seeks to provide that Crown tenancies may be assured tenancies for the purposes of the Housing Act 1988, subject to certain exceptions; to modify the assured tenancies regime in relation to certain Crown tenancies; and for connected purposes.
The Second Reading stage of this Bill has been scheduled for Friday 27 January 2017.
Sexual Offences (Pardons Etc) Bill: adjourned debate on Second Reading [21 October]
This Bill, sponsored by John Nicolson MP, seeks to make provision for the pardoning, or otherwise setting aside, of cautions and convictions for specified sexual offences that have now been abolished; and for connected purposes.
The Second Reading stage of this Bill has been rescheduled for Friday 20 January 2017.
Health and Social Care (National Data Guardian) Bill: Second Reading
This Bill, sponsored by Jo Churchill MP, seeks to establish, and make provision about, the National Data Guardian for Health and Social Care; and for connected purposes.
The Second Reading stage of this Bill has been rescheduled for Friday 13 January 2017.
Withdrawal from the European Union (Article 50) Bill
This Bill, sponsored by Peter Bone MP, seeks to require Her Majesty’s Government to notify the European Council by 31 March 2017 of the United Kingdom’s intention to withdraw from the European Union.
The Second Reading stage of this Bill has been rescheduled for Friday 13 January 2017.

As with other Public Bills, their purpose is to change the law as it applies to the general population.
