Lord Speaker reflects on time in office

The Lord Speaker, Baroness D’Souza, steps down on 1 September. She will discuss her time in post in conversation with Meg Russell, professor of British and comparative politics at University College London (UCL), on Wednesday 20 July at an event in the House of Lords.
Baroness D'Souza was elected as the second Lord Speaker in July 2011, taking office in September that year. She entered the House in 2004 as an independent Crossbencher, and was Convenor of the Crossbench Peers from 2007 to 2011.
Meg Russell is professor of British and comparative politics and director of the Constitution Unit at UCL. She has written extensively about the House of Lords.
Their discussion focused on Baroness D'Souza's time in office and the challenges currently faced by the House of Lords.
