This week in the House of Commons MPs debated the Wales Bill, the triggering of Article 50, the report of the Iraq Inquiry, and more.

Legislation: Government Bills

Wales Bill

MPs considered the Committee stage of the Wales Bill over two days in the House of Commons on Tuesday 5 and Monday 11 July 2016.

The Bill will next be considered at Report Stage and Third Reading. These remaining stages will take place on a date yet to be announced.

Legislation: Private Members' Bills

Two Private Members' Bills were introduced to the House following Ten Minute Rule Motions this week:

On Tuesday 12 July, MPs debated the EU Citizens Resident in the United Kingdom (Right To Stay) Bill. The Bill is expected to have its Second Reading on Friday 21 October 2016.

On Wednesday 13 July, MPs debated the National Health Service Bill. The Bill is expected to have its Second Reading on Friday 4 November 2016.

Prime Minister's Questions

On Wednesday 13 July, MPs asked Prime Minister, David Cameron, questions about effects of the EU referendum result on Northern Ireland, levels of homelessness in the UK, the UK economy and more.

Next week, Prime Minister's Questions will be taken by Theresa May, following the Conservative party's leadership election.

E-petitions debates

On Monday 11 July, in the Westminster Hall Chamber, MPs debated an e-petition relating to school penalty fines and authorised absence from school.

Opposition day debates

On Tuesday 12 July, MPs debated the energy and environmental implications of the EU referendum result and SATs results in the House of Commons. These subjects were chosen by the Opposition.

Backbench business debates

On Thursday 14 July in the Westminster Hall, MPs took part in two debates which had been scheduled by the Backbench Business Committee. These debates were on the contribution of cooperatives to the economy, and maternity discrimination.

Statutory Instruments

On Wednesday 13 July, MPs approved the draft Terrorism Act 2000 (Proscribed Organisations) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 2016 without a division.

General debates

On Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 July in the Commons Chamber, MPs took part in a general debate on the report of the Iraq Inquiry.
