Lords debates government and Parliament

Members of the Lords, including two former leaders of the House of Lords, a former head of the judiciary and a former head of the Civil Service, debated the balance of power between the government and Parliament and the case for Parliament having full details of all legislation that it is asked to consider, on Thursday 9 June.

During debates, members are able to put their experience to good use, discussing current issues and drawing the government's attention to concerns.

The debate was proposed by Baroness Smith of Basildon (Labour), leader of the Opposition, House of Lords.
