The House of Lords debated three private members' bills on Friday 10 June, covering asset freezing compensation, the registration of arms brokers and renters' rights.
A private member's bill is a type of public bill (that affects the public). Private members' bills must go through the same set of procedures as other public bills.
Asset Freezing (Compensation) Bill: second reading
This bill will create laws to impose restrictions on assets owned by people involved in supplying terrorist organisations in the UK with arms, with the purpose of securing compensation for UK citizens affected by the supply of such arms.

Register of Arms Brokers Bill: second reading
This bill will establish a Register of Arms Brokers, containing any person involved in the financing, transportation, freight forwarding, or any other action that facilitates the manufacture, export, or import of military equipment or military technology.

Renters' Rights Bill: second reading
This bill defines laws around the rights of renters, enabling access to databases of rogue landlords, certain lettings fees and electrical safety checks.
