Lords private members' bills

The House of Lords will debate two private members' bills on Tuesday 22 March and one on Wednesday 23 March, covering riot compensation, innovative medical treatments and NHS charitable trusts.
A private member's bill is a type of public bill (that affects the public). Private members' bills must go through the same set of procedures as other public bills. These three private members' bills were first introduced in the House of Commons.
Riot Compensation Bill (third reading): Tuesday 22 March

- What is third reading?
This bill will repeal the Riot (Damages) Act 1886 and make provision for claims, procedures and awards for a riot compensation scheme for damaged or stolen property.

Access to Medical Treatments (Innovation) Bill (third reading): Tuesday 22 March

NHS (Charitable Trusts Etc.) Bill (third reading): Wednesday 23 March

In connection with the removal of the Secretary of State’s powers under the National Health Service Act 2006 to appoint trustees, this bill will make provision for a transfer of royalty rights conferred by the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
