The House of Lords has appointed a new Commissioner for Standards, Lucy Scott-Moncrieff CBE. Ms Scott-Moncrieff is a former president of the Law Society of England and Wales. She will take up her position from June 2016.

The Commissioner for Standards is responsible for the independent and impartial investigation of alleged breaches of the House of Lords Code of Conduct. This includes investigating breaches of the rules on the House’s system of financial support for members.

As well as her former role as Law Society president, Ms Scott-Moncrieff has a strong track record of carrying out investigations in large organisations, such as the NHS and the Department for Education.
