Three short debates, covering the implementation of the Life Chances Strategy, enforcement of the School Admissions Code and bus services in England, took place in the House of Lords on Wednesday 11 May.

During debates, members are able to put their experience to good use, discussing current issues and drawing the government's attention to concerns.

Life Chances Strategy

This debate covered the steps being taken to deliver the Life Chances Strategy to transform the lives of the most disadvantaged people in Britain, as outlined by the Prime Minister on 11 January.

The debate was proposed by Lord Farmer (Conservative), member of the Lords Social Mobility Committee

Schools Admissions

This debate covered the extent to which compliance with the School Admissions Code is monitored and enforced, in light of proposals to prevent civil society organisations from objecting to violations of the Code.

The debate was proposed by Lord Watson of Invergowie (Labour), Lords Opposition Spokesperson for Transport

Bus services in England

This debate covered the assessment made of the trends in bus services in England and the environmental impact of those trends.

The debate was proposed by Baroness Randerson (Liberal Democrat), Liberal Democrat Lords Principal Spokesperson for Transport
