In the fifth day of debate on the Queen's Speech in the House of Commons on Wednesday 25 May 2016, MPs debated aspects of the speech relating to education, skills and training.

The Library has published a briefing paper on Higher Education White Paper: Success as a Knowledge Economy which contains more information on proposals to reshape the HE landscape, raise standards and increase competition in the sector.
