This week in the House of Commons MPs debated the Cultural Property (Armed Conflicts) Bill, the Investigatory Powers Bill, community pharmacies, police officer safety and more.
Legislation: Government Bills
Cultural Property (Armed Conflicts) Bill
The Bill passed Second Reading without a division and will now be considered by a Public Bill Committee, which is expected to report by Thursday 17 November.
Investigatory Powers Bill
MPs debated amendments made by the House of Lords to the Investigatory Powers Bill on Tuesday 1 November.
The Commons insisted on its disagreement with Lords amendments Nos. 11-15, 338 and 339, so the Bill now returns to the House of Lords for further consideration.
Legislation: Private Members' Bills
Two Private Members' Bills were introduced to the House following Ten Minute Rule Motions this week:
- School Admissions (Special Educational Needs)
- British Victims of Terrorism (Asset-Freezing and Compensation)
On Friday 4 November, MPs debated the National Minimum Wage (Workplace Internships) Bill. The Bill debate was adjourned and Second Reading is scheduled to continue on Friday 24 February 2017.
Debate on the Harbours, Docks and Piers Clauses Act 1847 (Amendment) Bill has been rescheduled to take place on Friday 25 November 2016.
Debate on the National Health Service Bill has been rescheduled to take place on Friday 24 February 2017.
Debate on the Sugar in Food and Drinks (Targets, Labelling and Advertising) Bill has been rescheduled to take place on Friday 13 January 2017.
Debate on the Parental Bereavement Leave (Statutory Entitlement) Bill has been rescheduled to take place on Friday 18 November 2016.
