Clerk of the Parliaments retires

Sir David Beamish, the most senior official in the House of Lords, retires on 15 April 2017.
Baroness Evans of Bowes Park (Conservative), Leader of the House of Lords, is expected to propose a motion in the chamber of the House of Lords to thank Sir David for his service.
Sir David joined the House of Lords in 1974 and was appointed as Clerk of the Parliaments in 2011.
He was knighted in 2017 for his parliamentary service.
Sir David will be succeeded as the most senior official in the House of Lords by Edward Ollard.
