Members of the House of Lords debated two motions on parliamentary scrutiny of Brexit in the House of Lords on Tuesday 4 April.

Baroness Hayter of Kentish Town (Labour) proposed a motion that the government should report to the House of Lords by the end of the session (parliamentary year) on progress towards ensuring qualifying EU and EEA nationals retain their derived rights after the UK has left the EU.

Baroness Smith of Basildon (Labour) proposed a motion that a Joint Committee of Commons and Lords be appointed to consider and report on the options for votes in Parliament on the outcome of negotiations on the UK’s withdrawal from the EU. The motion proposed that any committee should report by 31 October 2017.

Both motions were agreed without a vote.
