Statement: EU Council: 18 December 2017

The Prime Minister, Theresa May, made a statement on the EU Council in the House of Commons on Monday 18 December 2017. The Prime Minister informed the House that the European Council formally agreed on Friday 15 December 2017 that sufficient progress has been made to move on to the second stage of the negotiations.
Leader of the Opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, responded on behalf of the Opposition and welcomed progress to the second phase of negotiations but stated there were many key aspects of phase one which were still unclear.
