Urgent Question on President Trump's decision to move the US embassy in Israel

Shadow Foreign Secretary, Emily Thornberry, asked an Urgent Question in the House of Commons on Thursday 7 December on the decision of President Trump to move the US embassy in Israel.
President Trump recently announced that the US will recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital and has stated his intention to relocate the US embassy there from Tel Aviv.
In response to Emily Thornberry's question, Alistair Burt, the Minister for the Middle East, told the House, "Our position on the status of Jerusalem is clear and long-standing: it should be determined in a negotiated settlement between the Israelis and the Palestinians, and Jerusalem should ultimately be the shared capital of the Israeli and Palestinian states".
