This week in the House of Commons MPs debated the European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill, the Pension Schemes Bill, the Armed Forces Covenant and more.
Legislation: Government Bills
Pension Schemes Bill
The Pension Schemes Bill had its Second Reading in the Commons on Monday 30 January, and has been sent to a Public Bill Committee for detailed examination and evidence gathering.
European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill
The European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill had its Second Reading debate in the Commons on Tuesday 31 January and Wednesday 1 February. The Bill passed Second Reading on 1 February. It will now be considered in a Committee of the whole House.
Legislation: Private Members Bills
Two Private Members' Bills were introduced to the House following Ten Minute Rule Motions this week:
- Crime (Aggravated Murder of and Violence against Women)
- Vehicle Fuel (Publication of Tax Information)
On Friday 3 February, MPs debated the Parking Places (Variation of Charges) Bill which passed its Third Reading. The Broadcasting (Radio Multiplex Services) Bill also passed its Third Reading. Both Bills now progress to the House of Lords. Second Reading of the Child Poverty in the UK (Target for Reduction) Bill was adjourned and is scheduled to resume on 24 February 2017.
Urgent Questions and Statements
This week, an Urgent Question was asked on Job Centre Plus closures.
There were three Ministerial Statements this week.

Emergency Debate

On Monday 30 January in the Westminster Hall Chamber, MPs debated an e-petition on pay restraint for Agenda for Change NHS staff.

On Thursday 2 February in the Commons Chamber, MPs took part in a general debate which had been scheduled by the Backbench Business Committee.
