Legislation: Government Bills

Technical and Further Education Bill

The Technical and Further Education Bill had its remaining stages in the Commons on Monday 9 January and now progresses to the House of Lords. 

Commonwealth Development Corporation Bill

The Commonwealth Development Corporation Bill had its remaining stages in the House of Commons on Tuesday 10 January and now progresses to the House of Lords.

Policing and Crime Bill

MPs considered Lords amendments to the Policing and Crime Bill on Tuesday 10 January. MPs did not approve all amendments so the Bill returns to the Lords for further scrutiny.

Legislation: Private Members Bills

Two Private Members Bills were introduced to the House following Ten Minute Rule Motions this week:

On Friday 13 January, MPs debated the Broadcasting (Radio Multiplex Services) Bill. The Bill passed its second reading and progresses Committee stage.

The Civil Partnership Act 2004 (Amendment) Bill Second Reading debate was adjourned and will be resumed on 24 March 2017.

The Registration of Marriage Bill and the Health and Social Care (National Data Guardian) Bill passed their Second Reading without debate.

Opposition day debates

On Wednesday 11 January, MPs debated NHS and social care funding in the House of Commons, in a debate to take place on a subject chosen by the Opposition.
