Private members' bills: Lords third reading

Two private members' bills, covering the variation of parking charges and radio broadcasting services, had their third reading, a chance to 'tidy up' the bills and make changes, in the Lords on Tuesday 21 March.
A private member's bill is a type of public bill (that affects the public). Private members' bills must go through the same set of procedures as other public bills.

- What is third reading?
A bill to make provision in relation to the procedure to be followed by local authorities when varying the charges to be paid in connection with the use of certain parking places.
No changes were made to the bill at third reading.
Following agreement by both Houses on the text of the bill it received Royal Assent on 27April 2017. Royal Assent is the monarch's agreement to make the bill into an Act of Parliament (law).
