This week in the House of Commons MPs debated the European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill, the Budget, and more.
Legislation: Government Bills
European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill
Both the House of Commons and the House of Lords have agreed on the text of the European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill. The Bill received Royal Assent on 16 March 2017, becoming an Act of Parliament (law).
Spring Budget 2017
Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, delivered his Spring Budget Statement to the House of Commons on Wednesday 8 March 2017. MPs debated the Budget Resolutions on Wednesday 8, Thursday 9, Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 March 2017.
Following agreement to the Budget Resolutions, the Finance (No. 2) Bill 2016-17 was brought in and given its formal First Reading.
Health Service Medical Supplies (Costs) Bill
MPs disagreed with Lords Amendment 3 relating to the UK's life sciences sector. The Bill now returns to the House of Lords for further consideration.
National Citizen Service Bill
At Report stage, MPs approved all amendments made in Public Bill Committee. MPs then approved Third Reading. The Bill now returns to the House of Lords for further consideration.
