This week in the House of Commons MPs debated the United Kingdom (Withdrawal) Bill, the Finance Bill, NHS pay and more.

Legislation: Government Bills

The European Union (Withdrawal) Bill

The European Union (Withdrawal) Bill had the second day of its Second Reading in the Commons on 11 September. The House voted 326 to 290 to approve the Second Reading of the Bill. The next stage will be a Committee of the Whole House.

The Finance Bill

The Finance Bill had its Second Reading in the Commons on 12 September. The House voted 326 to 299 to approve the Second Reading and the Bill now passes to Committee Stage.

Opposition day debates

On Wednesday 13 September MPs debated NHS pay in the House of Commons, in the first of two debates to take place on subjects chosen by the Opposition. The second Opposition debate was on higher education regulations.

General debates

On Thursday 14 September in the Commons Chamber, MPs took part in a general debate on abuse and intimidation of candidates and the public during the General Election campaign.

Westminster Hall debates

Debates on a variety of subjects also took place in Westminster Hall on Tuesday 12, Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 September.
